WA Near-miss Awards Ideas Grants 2024-25
The WA Near-miss Awards: Ideas Grants (WANMA IG) program (Program) targets researchers who narrowly missed out on securing a National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas Grant, which is considered a critical career milestone for researchers.
The Program aims to support the careers of early- and mid-career researchers and to build the research capacity of WA in a sustainable way by increasing the number of successful Western Australian applications to the NHMRC Ideas Grant program.
The Program is open to Western Australian early- and mid-career researchers who were deemed ‘fundable’ but not funded in the 2024 NHMRC Ideas Grant funding round, with a score of 4.5 and above (equivalent to a category 5 score).
Funding will be awarded to the top-ranked applicants until the funding pool is exhausted. All recipients are expected to resubmit their near-miss application to a future NHMRC Ideas Grant Opportunity.
The Program provides grants of up to $100,000 to support research activity that enhances areas of the NHMRC Ideas Grants 2024 near-miss application over a 12-month period.
Program Status: Open for Applications
Applications Close: 1.00pm (AWST), Thursday 7 February 2025
