Research and Innovation Capacity and Capability Building Program
The Research and Innovation Capacity and Capability Building Program (RICCBP) 2024-25 aimed to enhance Western Australia’s health and medical research and innovation capacity and capability through initiatives that developed workforce skills, built knowledge, fostered collaboration and increased national and international competitiveness.
Funding was provided on a competitive basis to applications proposing programs under one of the following streams:
A. Expert Grant Review Service (EGRS).
This stream provided up to $900,000 over 3 years for the establishment of an expert grant review service to review national and international health and medical grant applications from both WA researchers and innovators to strengthen applications and increase their likelihood of success. The service was required to be equally available to all researchers and innovators across WA and would facilitate collaborative grant applications where possible.
B. Research and/or Innovation Development Programs
This stream provided up to $1,200,000 over 3 years for the provision of health and medical research and/or innovation training, mentoring, network or education programs that addressed an identified gap and built the capability of WA researchers and/or innovators.
Funding for both streams could be used to build on existing EGRS or Development programs but could not be used to replace existing activity or funding sources.
The Research and Innovation Capacity and Capability Building Program was open to entities with an Australian Business Number.
A two-stage application process applied, with the submission of an initial Expression of Interest (EOI), followed by a full proposal from invited applicants.
Program Status: Closed
