The Future Health Research and Innovation Fund is the WA Government’s flagship program to improve through research and innovation the health and prosperity of Western Australians, the sustainability of the health system and to advance the State’s standing as a leader in research and innovation.

The Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund Act 2012 (the Act) requires the Minister for Medical Research to establish and maintain the advisory council, which will guide the application of investment income from the FHRI Fund.

The advisory council is made up of eminent persons with experience in fields such as research, innovation, business, law, finance, corporate governance and the philanthropic, charitable and not-for-profit sectors. Visit the FHRI Fund website for further information regarding current advisory council members.

In accordance with the Act, the Minister for Medical Research is seeking nominations from suitable people for the following current vacancy on the advisory council:

  • a person with expertise in health and medical innovation.

Advisory council members are required to attend approximately seven meetings per year, and may also be required to participate in out of session activity. Members who are not public sector employees will be eligible for remuneration. Member terms will be two years with the possibility of extension.

Visit the FHRI Fund website for further information regarding the governance model for the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund.

Nominations should include:

  • A brief statement (no more than two pages) indicating your suitability based on the selection criteria set out below:
    • demonstrated experience in high level strategic governance positions
    • demonstrated experience and expertise in health and medical innovation and commercialisation
    • track record of national/international collaborations
    • awareness of the WA innovation and commercialisation environment.
