Extension of clinician fellowships program to advance health and medical research in WA
A total of $2,850,000 and $765,00 from the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund and the Raine Medical Research Foundation (Raine Foundation) respectively has been committed to extending the Clinician Research Fellowships program for a further three years, from 2025 to 2027.
The Clinician Research Fellowships is a Program of the Western Australian (WA) (FHRI) Fund and the Raine Foundation. The Program, which commenced in 2012, is designed to encourage clinicians employed by WA Health Service Providers to develop their research capability while continuing some clinical duties.
The program provides Fellowship funding for salary support for research duties and minor research costs for up to three years. Research must be undertaken in WA and be of direct relevance to the WA public health system. The program targets eligible clinicians who:
- work in healthcare disciplines including allied health, dental, medical, nursing and midwifery professions
- are early- or mid-career researchers
- have minimal or no paid research time currently.
