Funding to accelerate WA researcher national grant success

A total of $2 million has been awarded to 20 Western Australian researchers to boost their chances of success in future funding rounds.
The Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund’s WA Near Miss Awards (WANMA) Ideas Grants program is designed to support WA researchers who have narrowly missed out on securing a highly competitive National Health Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Ideas Grants scheme.
WANMA Ideas Grants program provides funding for up to 12 months for recipients to improve areas of their NHMRC application that were identified as being improvable. Recipients will resubmit an enhanced application to the NHMRC, increasing their chances of winning a future grant.
Recipients were assessed based on merit and received a share of a $2 million funding pool.
