Funding of $573,970 (ex GST) has been awarded to Curtin University through the Consumer and Community Involvement in Research Workforce Advancement program.

The program commenced in February 2023, and consists of the design, implementation, and evaluation of a research training suite that is delivered using varied methods collaboratively with participants who are consumers, carers, and researchers, to support co-design data driven research.

On completing the program participants will:

  • Understand research, including health and medical research
  • Understand the process undertaken by researchers in designing and conducting research projects
  • Have basic knowledge of research methodology
  • Have the ability to write research related documentation, such as a research proposal and/or research ethics application
  • Have the ability to design and undertake specific elements involved in a research project and/or a simple, small research project.

By achieving these outcomes this Program will enhance the ability of the WA research sector to deliver on outcomes that are of value to the end users of the health system.

The program is funded by the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund which provides a secure source of funding to drive health and medical research, innovation and commercialisation.
