Reminder to register for FHRI Open Day in Albany
Tickets are still available for the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund Open day on 25 October 2024.
Held under the theme ‘Partnerships for regional health and wellbeing’ in honour of world mental health day in the same month, the open day will be held at the University of Western Australia in Albany and co-hosted by the University of Western Australia, Albany, and the WA Country Health Service.
The day will include world-class speakers working in mental and regional health, including FHRI Fund Distinguished Fellow Professor Kathryn Modecki, whose research investigates the role social inequities and early life experiences plays on youth mental health - tapping into the wealth of information gathered through WA’s cohort studies; ORIGINS and the Raine Study.
Also presenting is The Kids Research Institute Senior research fellow Dr Gail Alvares, whose work centres on improving mental health outcomes for children diagnosed with autism, evaluating outcomes for adolescents and adults diagnosed in childhood, and coordinating a national autism biobank.
The keynote address will be given by Rural Clinical School Medical Coordinator and Research Supervisor Professor Kirsten Auret AM, whose research focuses on palliative and end-of-life care and whose role on the expert panel helped shape western Australia’s Voluntary Assisted Dying legislation.
Attendees will also be able to hear from the Director General of the Department of Health Dr Shirley Bowen and learn about new FHRI Fund programs open for applications, and recently announced FHRI fund recipients.
The day will also feature a presentation from the Minister for Medical Research and Innovation, the Hon. Stephen Dawson and FHRI Fund Advisory Council member Dr Marcus Tan.
Tickets are available for in-person and online attendance and can be booked here.
