New funding for high-tech health system solutions

Six innovative projects have received $3 million through the Future Health Research and Innovation Fund’s Targeted Call – Health System Solutions program.
Each project aims to improve patient outcomes and health system efficiency across Western Australia, with the funding enabling partnerships between researchers, health providers and industry leaders.
The projects address key healthcare challenges, identified by health leaders, including:
- telehealth ultrasound services for better pre-natal care in regional WA
- AI-tools to streamline orthopaedic surgery and waitlists
- advanced diagnostic technology.
All will work to improve healthcare delivery, reduce hospital wait times and delays, increase system sustainability, and ultimately improve the health and wellbeing of Western Australians.
All projects underwent a rigorous application process, with input from WA health experts on both concept papers and proposals.
Each project will be rolled out in partnership with broader health, research and community sectors in the months ahead.
