Western Australia is accelerating from research to advanced manufacturing—showcasing what’s already happening here and inviting more innovators to fill the gaps they see.
This month, the Office of Medical Research and Innovation (OMRI) team visited BioCina’s facility at Technology Park – an operation with a unique combination of capabilities in WA, highlighting the state’s growing strength in medical manufacturing.
BioCina’s work demonstrates what is possible when science, technology, and industry converge to meet global needs. Their advanced capabilities in medical manufacturing at their 34,000 sqm state-of-the-art facility include the development of aseptic and terminally sterilised injectables, Blow-Fill-Seal technology and products and the safe handling and filling of cytotoxic products. They are now also offering process and analytical development to support early-stage companies.
For more than 30 years, the facility has delivered life-changing medicines to 98 countries.
This is just one example of the incredible innovation already underway in WA. Our state is proving it is not only a resource powerhouse, but also a leader in health and medical research and manufacturing.
These developments show WA is well on its way to making a name for itself on the global stage, creating opportunities for new ventures and inspiring others to identify gaps and bring their ideas to life.
