Collaborative Centres

The Collaborative Centres program (the Program) provides time-limited funding for WA researchers based in the WA public health system or private hospitals to substantially accelerate new or emerging programs of world-leading collaborative research and to develop and enhance national, and international partnerships.

The Program will support the further development of local, national and international partnerships and collaborations in order to improve international standing of the research program with a view to increasing the team’s potential to become a self-sustaining Collaborative Centre.

The collaborative centre should involve multi-disciplinary teams with clear plans for encouraging translation and commercialisation of research outcomes, where appropriate.

Funding will be provided on a competitive basis to applications that provide a significant health and/or economic benefit for the Western Australian community, build national and international collaborations that benefits WA and supports opportunities for research, capacity, capability and workforce development for WA researchers.

The Program is open to all health and medical research programs based in a public health service provider or a private hospital across any discipline.

Successful applicants will be awarded funding of $500,000 to $1,200,000 to undertake the program of research and for the associated operational costs of the Collaborative Centre. Funded activities must be completed within a 3-year period.
