FHRI funding to amplify consumer voices

Twelve research and innovation projects have been awarded $273,000 to support consumer and community involvement (CCI) in their activities.
The Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund recognises the value of consumer engagement in medical research and innovation and its direct link to patient-centred research that leads to improved experiences and health outcomes.
The FHRI Fund Consumer and Community Involvement Support program provides up to 12 months’ worth of funding to researchers and innovators to incorporate meaningful consumer and community involvement in research and innovation programs at all stages – including ideation, priority setting, grant writing, and CCI activities to support existing research.
The program aims to:
- improve the quality of research and innovation activities funded by the FHRI Fund and their translatable outcomes by inclusion of improved CCI
- increase CCI capacity in WA for research and innovation activities contributing to WA being able to continue its position as a national leader in CCI.
An independent assessment panel assessed recipients based on merit.
