Celebrating NHMRC success for WA researcher

University of Western Australia researcher and Chair in Public Health, Professor David Preen has been awarded $3.7 million to investigate health service pathways and outcomes of people seeking urgent care for mental illness, deliberate self-harm, and suicidal behaviour.
Professor Preen will work with key mental health agencies ensuring the results from this study will inform targeted, evidence-based strategies to improve mental health outcomes for all.
Co-contributions of $1 million from the Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund’s Major Research Application Support (MRAS) program led to Professor Preen and his team securing an NHMRC 2024 Partnership Projects grant and additional funding with combined total value of $2 million.
