Fellowships for clinicians to advance health and medical research in WA
The Clinician Research Fellowships is a Program of the Western Australian (WA) Future Health Research and Innovation (FHRI) Fund and the Raine Medical Research Foundation (Raine Foundation).
Funding of $2,850,000 and $765,000 has been committed from the FHRI Fund and Raine Foundation respectively, for a further three rounds of the Program over 2022-2024.
The Program, which commenced in 2012, is designed to encourage clinicians employed by WA Health Service Providers to develop their research capability while continuing some clinical duties. The program also facilitates high-quality research that will ultimately provide better health care outcomes. The research must be undertaken in WA and be of direct relevance to the WA public health system.
Fellowship funding is available for salary support for research duties up to 0.5 FTE and minor research costs. The duration of each Fellowship can be up to three years, depending on the extent of the research proposal. During the term of the Fellowship, clinical duties in a WA Health Service Provider institution(s) must be maintained at a minimum of 0.3 FTE.
The 2022 round of the Fellowships has closed to applications and recipients will be announced in late 2022.
